UI/UX Designer

Full Time - 6 month contract

Location: Melbourne CBD



Purpose

Working across multiple engagements, the UI/UX Designer understands the needs of our clients and their customers, and translates those needs into compelling and usable digital experiences. Observing best practices in research and applying human-centred design principles, the UI/UX Designer works with key stakeholders to elicit insights, define problems and identify fixes. They are also responsible for the design and implementation of the experiences a user has when interacting with a digital product or service as part of implementing design systems and solutions.



Key responsibilities

·      Conduct and participate in meetings/workshops to understand and align with project phase, client goals and business requirements

·      Conduct user interviews, first and secondary research to create user centric solutions for clients

·      Build journey maps, user personas and flows, wireframes, prototypes and mock-ups as part of the discovery and ideation phases

·      Translate requirements into style guides, design systems, design patterns and attractive user interfaces

·      Design UI elements such as input controls, navigational components and informational components

·      Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)

·      Conduct usability tests to break assumptions, troubleshoot UX problems and iterate on design solutions to ensure solutions are tailored to key users

·      Collaborate with stakeholders, product, software and creative teams

·      Incorporating customer feedback, usage metrics and usability findings into designs to enhance user experience

·      Build strong relationships with clients through honesty, transparency and doing things well

·      Use data, best practices and intuition to create compelling designs and experiences

·      Accept other duties and responsibilities assigned or delegated to you from time to time which are within your skills, qualifications and competencies

·      Adept at planning and prioritising tasks and meet deadlines

Technical competencies

·      Proficiency in Adobe Suite, relevant prototyping tools (Sketch, Figma, etc.) and collaboration software (e.g. Miro, Trello)

·      Sound knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript

·      Proficient in handling, analysing and presenting data

·      Expertise in current state of experience design, technology and product possibilities



Qualifications

·      A portfolio that reflects 5 years in digital design and demonstrates your skills and progression

·      Experience leading brands or projects in a professional setting involving multiple stakeholders

·      Desirable: A Bachelor of Design or equivalent degree
