AI & Data Scientist (m/f/d) – Next Generation Defense Radar Systems
Location: Erlangen, Germany, onsite
Wolf Radar operates at the intersection of a new era of security challenges and the existential need to secure European technological sovereignty.
To tackle this challenge, we are actively developing and deploying cutting-edge radar and sensor systems that are resilient, high-performance, and ready for mass production for use in defense & security.
We are is looking for pioneering AI & Data Scientists to join our team in Erlangen and drive the development of advanced signal processing and object recognition algorithms for our cutting-edge defense and security radar systems. Our mission is clear: We build radar technology to protect what matters most: human lives, critical assets, and the integrity of democratic societies.
We are hiring across all experience levels – from ambitious Junior to experienced Senior to strategic AI-Lead.
Your Core Mission in the AI/ML Team
As an AI & Data Scientist, you will be instrumental in designing, training, and deploying Machine Learning and Deep Learning models for real-time applications within complex radar environments. Your work spans the entire ML lifecycle, focusing on processing high-volume, complex radar signal data for critical applications such as real-time object detection, classification, tracking, and anomaly detection. You will actively track cutting-edge research to ensure our radar systems maintain a technological edge.

- Academic Excellence: You hold a Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a comparable STEM field.

- Collaboration & Drive: You are a proactive, results-oriented team player who thrives in an interdisciplinary environment and is eager to share knowledge and contribute to a joint mission.
- Communication: You have strong written and verbal communication skills (Fluent English is mandatory), enabling you to explain complex technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Quality Commitment: You are passionate about developing high-quality, robust, and reliable AI solutions that meet demanding performance and security standards.
Requirements by Seniority Level
1. Junior AI/Data Scientist:
In this role, your focus is on learning and technical execution. You will support the team with data preparation, feature engineering, and training/validation of existing models under guidance. You should have 0–2 years of experience (or be a recent Master's/Ph.D. graduate) with solid skills in Python (PyTorch/TensorFlow) and statistics. A basic understanding of Signal Processing, RF, or sensor data is a strong advantage.
2. Senior AI/Data Scientist:
As a Senior, you will take end-to-end ownership of challenging AI/ML projects. You are responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing new ML solutions, ensuring their successful transition into production (MLOps). You must have 3+ years of proven, production-focused experience and familiarity with cloud deployment. Demonstrable experience analyzing raw radar data or similar time-series/sensor data is more than welcome.
3. AI-Lead / Principal Scientist:
This is a strategic role where you will provide technical leadership for the AI team, defining the overall AI/ML roadmap and data processing architecture. You act as the key technical interface to System Engineering and Management. You require 7+ years of progressive experience, ideally with prior technical leadership. In-depth domain expertise in advanced radar systems, electronic warfare, or defense/aerospace technology is mandatory.
