ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior/Lead Backend Developer (.Net), you’ll drive the transition from ArcGIS to a modern, open-source geospatial stack, shaping a platform that empowers environmental and agricultural insights. This 3-month project offers full ownership of backend architecture and the chance to solve complex, high-impact challenges with geospatial data services, cloud infrastructure, and scalable APIs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work on a 3-month project;
- Design, build, and maintain robust geospatial APIs (REST, OGC standards) including features like BBOX/filter queries, authentication, pagination, and health/metrics;
- Process and publish Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs);
- Work with spatial databases such as SQL Server Spatial or PostGIS, including performance tuning (spatial indexes, SRIDs, tiling strategies);
- Deploy and provision cloud infrastructure, specifically on Azure;
- Collaborate on transitioning away from ArcGIS to achieve greater independence and enhanced system control.
MUST HAVES
- 6+ years of experience with .NET;
- Hands-on experience with geospatial data services and tooling, specifically TiTiler and/or GeoServer for dynamic tile serving;
- Proficiency in spatial databases such as SQL Server Spatial or PostGIS, including performance tuning;
- Experience designing and maintaining geospatial APIs;
- Strong experience with cloud deployment and provisioning on Azure;
- Upper-intermediate English level.
NICE TO HAVES
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) on Azure;
- Experience migrating services away from an Esri/ArcGIS stack (ImageServer, FeatureServer);
- Knowledge of open-source basemap providers like OpenMapTiles or Planet OSM.
