About The Role

Uber is looking for a Graduate Software Engineer I to join our Maps Web & Tooling team, the group behind the technology powering the maps that keep the world moving. Every ride, every delivery, every ETA relies on the work we do.

As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll build and improve the backend systems that power our internal map tools and platforms. Tools that help define pickup and drop-off points, streamline navigation, and enhance real-world user experiences. You'll work on products like ePUDOs (which define pickup/drop-off points for airports, cities, and safety zones) and LMTS (a system that uses user-generated content to improve map data quality).

About The Team

The Maps Web & Tooling team, established in early 2025, builds the web platforms and tools that enable Uber's global map operations. We are the go-to experts for designing and maintaining scalable, intuitive web products that empower our mapping teams to deliver accurate, high-quality map data. We combine engineering excellence with product impact, driving efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in Uber Maps.

What You'll Do

  • Work on exciting, high-impact engineering challenges from start to finish
  • Collaborate with teams across Uber to build robust backend systems for maps and geospatial data
  • Design, build, and maintain services that support internal tools used across Uber's global operations
  • Work independently on complex problems, taking ownership from ideation to delivery
  • Contribute to Uber's engineering culture by writing clean, scalable, and well-tested code

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, graduating between June 2024 and 2025.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, or C++
  • Eligible to work in or currently based in the Netherlands

  • Interest in maps, geospatial data, or large-scale distributed systems

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office.
