About The Role
Uber is looking for a Graduate Software Engineer I to join our Maps Web & Tooling team, the group behind the technology powering the maps that keep the world moving. Every ride, every delivery, every ETA relies on the work we do.
As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll build and improve the backend systems that power our internal map tools and platforms. Tools that help define pickup and drop-off points, streamline navigation, and enhance real-world user experiences. You'll work on products like ePUDOs (which define pickup/drop-off points for airports, cities, and safety zones) and LMTS (a system that uses user-generated content to improve map data quality).
This is your chance to work on large-scale, impactful systems, and contribute to the next generation of Uber's mapping technology used by millions of people worldwide.
About The Team
The Maps Web & Tooling team, established in early 2025, builds the web platforms and tools that enable Uber's global map operations. We are the go-to experts for designing and maintaining scalable, intuitive web products that empower our mapping teams to deliver accurate, high-quality map data. We combine engineering excellence with product impact, driving efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in Uber Maps.
What You'll Do
Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green-light hubs, employees are expected to be in-office for 100% of their time. Please speak with your recruiter to better understand in-office expectations for this role.
