Junior to Mid-Level Web Developer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Junior to Mid-Level Web Developer to join our team full time (40 hours/week). The ideal candidate will have strong back-end and front-end development skills, with a focus on PHP, MySQL, and modern web technologies. The role involves building and maintaining our Legacy web applications, integrating APIs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams using Jira and Bitbucket. Experience with Laravel is a plus, this role involves the immediate task of updating and maintaining our existing web applications, alongside involvement in the transition to our new Laravel-based application suite once it launches.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using PHP.
• Write optimized MySQL queries and ensure database performance and security.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and web services.
• Implement front-end functionality using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Utilize template engines such as Twig for UI rendering.
• Work with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap to create responsive designs.
• Collaborate with team members using Jira for task tracking and Bitbucket for version control.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications to improve performance and user experience.
• Assist in code reviews, documentation, and deployment processes.
• Support development using Laravel framework when applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of experience in web development or equivalent project experience.
• Strong proficiency in PHP.
• Advanced MySQL knowledge, including complex queries, stored procedures, views, and database design.
• Experience with API development and integration (RESTful or JSON-based APIs).
• Solid understanding of JavaScript and front-end development fundamentals.
• Experience using template engines (e.g., Twig, Blade).
• Proficient with CSS frameworks, especially Bootstrap.
• Familiarity with Jira and Bitbucket for Agile project management and version control.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Laravel or other modern PHP frameworks
• Knowledge of MVC architecture and object-oriented programming
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of web security best practices
