About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to join Disney Digital Entertainment on an innovative project aimed at creating the 'digital front door' for The Walt Disney Company. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of interactive entertainment by designing engaging, intuitive, and visually captivating user interfaces for a variety of digital experiences. As a key member of our team, you will lead the development of UI elements and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to craft immersive game experiences rooted in Disney's beloved properties, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. This remote position offers flexibility, with minimal travel requirements, and provides a platform for a creative professional to make a significant impact in the digital entertainment space.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess at least 8 years of game development experience, including leading or managing the UI/UX design process on at least one shipped game. Proficiency in Unreal Engine and UEFN, along with expertise in UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics), Blueprints, and Verse Scripting language, is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing content across multiple gaming platforms such as console, PC, and mobile. Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring junior designers are highly valued. A deep appreciation for Disney’s IP, including characters, lore, and overall aesthetics, is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have experience creating UI mockups and wireframes using tools like Figma or similar programs, and a solid understanding of best practices in creating engaging, smooth user experiences. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project leads and development teams to design and implement UI elements that enhance gameplay and user engagement.
- Lead the UI development process, managing the work of the UI team within a cross-disciplinary pod structure.
- Contribute hands-on to the creation of content for interactive games and experiences based on Disney’s extensive portfolio of characters and worlds.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for user interfaces to visualize design concepts.
- Develop UI content using Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting in Verse within development and live service environments.
- Work closely with art directors to establish and maintain consistent UI style guidelines aligned with Disney’s branding standards.
- Design, implement, and refine UI and UX systems to optimize player experience and engagement.
- Maintain detailed design documentation to ensure clarity and consistency across projects.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior UI designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
