Position Overview:
The Marine Construction Manager will oversee all marine construction activities for a large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project in Qatar. This role involves managing marine civil works, dredging, piling, quay wall construction, jetty installation, and other offshore/marine structures. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise in marine construction, and compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise marine construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution.
- Manage dredging, reclamation, piling, quay wall, breakwater, and jetty construction.
- Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards and local regulations.
- Oversee marine equipment (dredgers, barges, cranes, piling rigs) and vessel operations.
- Monitor progress, prepare daily/weekly reports, and mitigate risks and delays.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and government authorities for approvals and inspections.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and labor to ensure productivity and quality.
- Resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with international marine construction standards (e.g., PIANC, IMO, BS, ASTM).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 15+ years in marine construction, with 8+ years in a managerial role on large-scale EPC projects (ports, jetties, offshore platforms, dredging, etc.).
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of marine civil works, dredging, piling, and coastal engineering.
- Certifications: PMP, NEBOSH/IOSH, and marine construction-related certifications are a plus.
- Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera, and marine construction software.
- Location & Rotation: 60/30 rotation (depending on company policy).
Market Wage Range (Daily Rate):
- $950/day (depending on experience, project scale, and company).
- Expat packages typically include housing, transportation, flights, and medical insurance.
Preferred Candidates:
- Previous experience in Middle East/GCC projects (Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia).
- Familiarity with Qatar construction regulations and marine authority requirements.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
