Job Title: Senior Technical Artist (Mobile Games)

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Full-time

About Us:

We are an indie game studio passionate about pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming. Our mission is to create memorable, immersive experiences that engage and excite players around the world. We’re seeking a Technical Artist to take a leading role in shaping the design of our upcoming mobile titles and contribute to our growing studio.

Job Description:

We’re looking for a Technical Artist who bridges the gap between art and technology — someone capable of crafting stylized 3D assets, animated rigs, and mobile-optimized VFX directly inside Unity.

You’ll own the full visual pipeline: from taking concept art → modeling & texturing → animating → integrating and optimizing assets for performance and polish.

Responsibilities:

  • Create stylized low-poly 3D assets (rooms, props, rigs, characters) optimized for mobile performance.
  • Rig and animate idle, upgrade, and interaction loops (e.g., mining rigs, workers, environment effects).
  • Design and implement real-time VFX (energy pulses, sparks, holograms, ambient effects) using Unity’s VFX Graph or Shuriken.
  • Build and tweak lightweight shaders (glow, metallic shine, scanlines) using Shader Graph or custom materials.
  • Integrate, test, and optimize assets in Unity URP pipeline (LOD, batching, lightmaps, post-processing).
  • Collaborate closely with the game designer and Unity developer to maintain consistent style and performance.
  • Troubleshoot art-related performance issues (draw calls, lighting, texture budgets).
  • Maintain clean, modular Unity prefabs and project hierarchy.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • 3+ years of experience in Unity-based 3D game art.
  • Strong modeling and texturing skills in Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
  • Experience with Unity Animation, Timeline, and Animator Controllers.
  • Proficiency with Unity’s VFX Graph and Shader Graph (URP preferred).
  • Solid understanding of lighting, rendering, and performance optimization on mobile.
  • Ability to create stylized, readable art (low-poly, efficient use of color & shape).
  • Experience integrating art assets into Unity prefabs with functional animations and effects.
  • Basic understanding of C# scripting (for animation triggers, materials, etc.).

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in technical pipeline scripting/tools (Python, C#, or Editor scripts).
  • Understanding of mobile game performance profiling.
  • Knowledge of substance tools (Substance Painter / Designer).

What We Offer:

  • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
  • Leadership role in a passionate, creative, and growing indie studio.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of our games and have a significant impact on our success.
  • Competitive compensation and the potential for growth within the studio.
  • Career growth and personal development opportunities.
  • 24 days annual leave.
