Position Title

Quality Assurance Tester with Test Automation

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Contract Type

Full-time, Fixed-term Contract (12 months, renewable)

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Tester with strong test automation capabilities to join our dynamic team in Brussels. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, and project managers to deliver high-quality software solutions in an agile environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Test Planning & Execution

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web applications and APIs
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
• Conduct exploratory testing to identify edge cases and potential issues
• Document test results, defects, and quality metrics with precision
• Participate actively in sprint planning, grooming sessions, and retrospectives

Test Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using industry-standard tools (Selenium, Cypress, or similar)
• Create robust and reusable automated test scripts for UI, API, and integration testing
• Implement automated tests within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar)
• Continuously improve test automation coverage and framework efficiency
• Perform test automation code reviews and mentor team members on best practices

Quality Assurance & Collaboration

• Collaborate with development teams to ensure testability of features from the design phase
• Provide guidance on QA best practices, ensuring traceability and compliance
• Identify, document, and track defects through their lifecycle using tools such as Jira
• Analyze test results and provide actionable recommendations for quality improvements
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) processes and coordinate with stakeholders
• Contribute to process improvements and quality standards within the QA team

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance and testing
• Proven experience with test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
• Strong hands-on experience with manual testing methodologies across web and API platforms
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD integration and DevOps practices

Technical Skills

Programming & Scripting:

• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Strong understanding of JavaScript for automation testing
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

Test Automation Tools & Frameworks:

• Expertise in Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, or Playwright for UI automation
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI
• Familiarity with test frameworks like JUnit, TestNG, Mocha, or Cucumber/SpecFlow
• Knowledge of Page Object Model (POM) and other design patterns for test automation

CI/CD & Version Control:

• Hands-on experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar CI/CD platforms
• Proficiency with version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab)
• Understanding of containerization tools (Docker) is a plus

Testing Methodologies:

• Solid understanding of SDLC and QA methodologies
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
• Knowledge of BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) and TDD (Test-Driven Development) practices
• Understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform testing strategies

Tools & Technologies:

• Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools (Jira, TestRail, Xray, or similar)
• Experience with database testing and SQL queries
• Familiarity with performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner) is advantageous
• Experience with test reporting tools and dashboards (Kibana, Grafana, Mochawesome)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification
• Experience working in highly regulated or security-focused environments
• Knowledge of accessibility testing (WCAG standards)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Experience with mobile application testing (iOS/Android)
• Understanding of security testing principles and tools
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and container orchestration (Kubernetes)

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English: Fluent (C1 level) - mandatory for all documentation and team communication

French or Dutch: Working knowledge is advantageous but not required
