We are seeking a User Interface Developer & Web Designer to join our team in Brussels.


Introduction / Context:

As a full-time employee, you will be part of our EUSS Service at the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). You will be responsible to provide Web and Digital Communication support to DG SANTE.R4.

Your main task will be to design, publish and maintain DG SANTE webpages according to the standards of the European Commission in terms of visual identity, ergonomics, usability and accessibility.


Description of tasks:

  • Web design:
  • Creating the layout of the website, illustrations, visuals, components, infographics, data visualisations and dashboards.
  • Unify styles and harmonise the interface across all cross-sites.
  • Web development:
  • Create new components, refactor and test dynamic user interfaces.
  • Test and debug for consistency and cross-browser compatibility and accessibility.
  • Feedback and analytics monitoring to improve content and user experience.
  • Manage online collaborative tools (Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow).


Languages, knowledge and technical skills:

  • Experience in design systems and UI development.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design best practices.
  • Experience with UI tools, such as Figma / Penpot.
  • Strong command of the languages and software used to create websites, such as: HTML, CSS, JavaScript; React, Typescript; Git (GitLab / Bitbucket); Visual Studio / Visual Studio code.
  • Proficient use of MS Office & MS 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Knowledge in Web Accessibility (WCAG) is a plus.
  • Good oral and written command of English is mandatory.
  • Good knowledge of digital environment.

Desirable:

  • 5 years of professional experience with tasks closely related to those described above.
  • Knowledge of/or experience in an ITIL environment.
  • Knowledge of EU Institutions (Policy on food safety and health is a plus).

Other requirements:

  • EU Citizenship.
  • Resident or available to relocate to Belgium.
