The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Risk & Compliance Directorate - Office of the Group Chief Compliance Officer (GRC - OCCO) - Group Compliance and Integrity Department (GCI) - Ethics & Market Integrity Division (EMI) - Group Ethics Unit (GEU), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship

The traineeship will allow you to gain a solid understanding of the activities related to Ethics and Integrity matters. You will also get useful practical experience in the management of personal conflict of interest cases and regulatory compliance in the area of ethics and integrity matters and gain thus a valuable experience for your future career.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities within the team will be:

  • Assist with research and comparative studies on case law and legislation in the field of Ethics and Integrity
  • Contribute to the benchmarking of EIB policies and procedures against those of comparable institutions
  • Support the update of Compliance policies and procedures
  • Assist with the document management and business process management
  • Support the implementation of inquiry procedures e.g. by carrying out background checks and obtaining clearances for access management, data protection, IT, document management etc.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree preferably in Finance, Economics or Law
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular PowerPoint and Excel);
  • Basic understanding of ethics and integrity frameworks, especially in institutional or corporate settings would be an advantage;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for drafting case notes, reports, or internal communications.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and apply policy guidelines;
  • Interest in EU institutions and governance, with a motivation to contribute to ethical standards and integrity practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
