Objective of the traineeship
You will play a key role in enhancing the Bank’s ability to assess climate-related and environmental risks by refining analytical tools and methodologies. Your work will help quantify how factors such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution affect borrower creditworthiness.
You will gain hands-on experience in sustainable finance and risk management, while contributing to the integration of environmental considerations into financial decision-making. This opportunity will allow you to build valuable skills, collaborate closely with subject-matter experts, and make a meaningful impact on how the Bank addresses climate and environmental risks.
Responsibilities
You will assist the team in enhancing the tools and methodologies used to assess and quantify climate-related and environmental risks. These include but are not limited to portfolio-level materiality assessments, counterparty-level climate and biodiversity evaluations, and the quantification of potential future economic losses from extreme weather events.
This work draws on increasingly available data sources - such as firms' transition plans, financial institutions’ exposure to fossil fuels, and asset-level location data for physical risk analysis. It involves working with large datasets and performing statistical analyses, with potential opportunities to contribute to the development and testing of Large Language Models designed to extract data from corporate disclosures.
Your responsibilities may range from coding and data processing to preparing presentations and conducting market analyses.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or a university degree, preferably in IT engineering, mathematics, business administration, economics and/or finance, or environmental science.
 - Understanding of climate-related and environmental risks, particularly in the context of financial institutions and credit risk, would be an advantage.
 - Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to translate findings into actionable insights.
 - Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Excel, with a good knowledge of Macros).
 - Familiarity with Python, VBA, and database tools such as Access or SAS would be an advantage.
 - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
