The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Information Systems Directorate (IS) - Data & Information Solutions Department (DIS) - Data & Information Governance Division (DIG) - EIF Data & Information Governance Unit (EIFDIG), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)
(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship
You will contribute to the development of an automated Data Lineage capability within the EIB Group’s Data Platform. This exciting initiative aims to visually trace how data moves and transforms from its original source through various processing stages (bronze, silver, and reporting layers) using a user-friendly interface designed for business users.
This Capability Plays a Key Role In
- Identifying and resolving data quality issues.
 - Assessing the impact of changes to data or reports.
 - Supporting compliance with BCBS 239 regulatory standards.
 
Responsibilities
You will be involved in a dynamic and forward-looking project focused on building a Data Lineage capability within the EIB Group’s Data Platform. Your contributions will help lay the foundation for better data transparency, quality, and governance.
You Will Be Supporting
- Roadmap & Solution Overview: help defining the timeline of the traineeship, outlining key milestones and deliverables. You will also contribute to a high-level design of the overall solution, giving you a broad understanding of how all components fit together.
 - Mapping Data Lineage between Denodo and the Data Warehouse: creating the initial connections between the reporting layer (Denodo) and the underlying data warehouse. This foundational work is essential for understanding how data flows across systems.
 - Developing a Predictive Lineage Model: designing a model that can intelligently infer data relationships across different layers of the platform. This model will be built using the available data during your traineeship and will serve as a strong starting point for future enhancements.
 - Designing User-Friendly Interfaces: creating mock-ups for a business-friendly interface that makes data lineage easy to understand and navigate. You will also document the technical design of the solution, including key specifications and assumptions.
 
- Final year of studies or University degree on Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or equivalent fields.
 - Basic understanding of IT development process design.
 - Proficiency in data modelling and complex data flow analysis, as well as excellent knowledge of data querying and data lineage concepts is required.
 - Familiarity with Python would be an advantage.
 - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
