The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for Information Systems Directorate (IS) – Business Solutions Department (BSD) - Finance Division (FD) - Collateral & Market Data Management Unit (C&M), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)
(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship
The Objective Of This Traineeship Is Twofold
- First, to contribute to the continuous improvement of the automated testing landscape in the market data domain within the bank. Key focus will be on the increase of automated testing coverage (by adding new asset types to the existing scope), technical evolution and optimisation of the existing testing infrastructure, and support with the definition of robust processes around automated test scheduling, executing, monitoring, and reporting.
 - Second, to enhance operational intelligence for decision making by integrating machine learning techniques and tools for model training and predictive analytics in the market data domain, leveraging on the bank's large market data sets.
 
You will support the automation of market data testing:
- Review and enhance existing test cases and scripts in close collaboration with project and operational resources on IT and business side.
 - Create new test cases and scripts together with subject matter experts.
 - Improve existing technical testing infrastructure (using Python, Azure DevOps, Kafka, and REST), guided by an internal solution architect.
 - Support refinement of automated test procedures and reporting in collaboration with a specialized test and defect manager.
 
- Establish a scalable data pipeline to ingest, process, and analyse large volumes of market data, suitable for robust model training, to gain analytics insights.
 - Apply machine learning techniques tailored to market data to gain predictive insights and allow market behavior forecasting.
 - Support operationalization of predictive analytics workflows by embedding model outputs into decision making.
 
- Final year of studies or University degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, or a related field.
 - Demonstrated experience in machine learning and (big) data analytics would be an advantage.
 - Knowledge of Python and SQL, standard data analytics packages utilising Python, Kafka, REST, Azure DevOps would be an advantage.
 - Knowledge of market data (bond prices, FX & interest, volatilities) would be an advantage.
 - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
