A forward-thinking FinTech firm in Amsterdam, where cutting-edge technology meets financial innovation, are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize the high-performance network environment.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. This role will involve working with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our network to support business growth. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, low-latency connectivity essential to the operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement network solutions to support high-performance applications and services.
- Manage, monitor, and optimize LAN, WAN, and data center networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to align networking solutions with overall system architecture.
- Maintain and upgrade network hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Implement network security best practices, including firewall configurations, VPNs, and access controls.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning to meet future scalability needs.
- Work with external vendors and ISPs to manage connectivity and hardware procurement.
- Document network configurations, policies, and procedures for operational efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, preferably in a FinTech or financial services environment.
- Strong expertise in networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-level hardware, such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
- Knowledge of firewalls and security technologies, including Fortinet, Palo Alto, or equivalent.
- Experience with low-latency and high-performance networks is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for network automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in high-pressure situations.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of SDN and network virtualization technologies.
- Experience with multicast and trading network setups.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or JNCIE are highly advantageous.
