Summary
The Cloud Engineer (AWS & DevOps) is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated cloud infrastructures within Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments. The role emphasizes Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, containerization with Docker, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices leveraging Git and Helm.
This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities across compute, storage, and network layers, as well as collaboration with internal and client technical teams to ensure optimal cloud performance, reliability, and compliance in enterprise and Managed Service Provider (MSP) environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch
- Build and maintain cloud environments using Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) provisioning and automation
- Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS preferred) for containerized workloads
- Develop and manage Docker container images and registries for application deployment
- Manage application packaging and deployment using Helm charts
- Collaborate with developers to streamline CI/CD pipelines using Git-based workflows and automation tools
- Implement and manage AWS Security Hub for centralized visibility of security findings across AWS accounts
- Configure and tune AWS Security Hub, integrating with services such as Amazon GuardDuty, AWS Config, Amazon Inspector, and CloudTrail
- Configure and optimize monitoring and logging solutions (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers within cloud environment
- Implement backup, patch management, and disaster recovery processes to ensure system resilience
- Implement IAM, role-based access control (RBAC), and encryption policies in AWS and Kubernetes
- Ensure compliance with security and governance frameworks across all cloud environments
- Conduct regular audits and apply best practice configurations to maintain secure infrastructure
- Serve as a technical escalation point for cloud and infrastructure incidents
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures through automation or configuration improvements
- Document incident responses, configurations, and changes accurately
- Partner with client teams to assess infrastructure requirements and propose optimized, cost-effective cloud solutions
- Participate in capacity planning, cost optimization, and cloud governance initiatives
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for architectures, processes, and operational procedures
Skills & Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure operations within an MSP or enterprise environment
- Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Security Hub, CloudFormation, CloudWatch)
- Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- Solid experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred), Helm charts, and Git for source control
- Experience with Docker for containerization and image management
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, VPN, Load Balancing, Firewalls)
- Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python
- Experience with monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Terraform Associate (HashiCorp Certified)
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent MSP operational framework
- Proven experience supporting AWS-based environments using Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker and Git
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across cloud and DevOps systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a 24/7 managed services environment with attention to detail
- Passion for automation, continuous improvement, and cloud-native technologies
