Urgent Role - apply today | 6-month daily rate contract with strong possibility of extension
We’re seeking an experienced PHP Developer to strengthen the security posture of a suite of business-critical applications. This role is focused on vulnerability remediation and secure coding improvements — not product rebuilds.
You’ll be working across Laravel and custom PHP codebases, tackling legacy environments and unknowns, improving stability, and helping uplift secure engineering practices.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Review, prioritise, and remediate security vulnerabilities
- Apply secure coding practices and patch existing applications
- Execute small, tactical code fixes (larger changes >1hr go through risk review first)
- Work across Laravel (v9 and earlier), PHP 7.x & 8.x — with occasional legacy surprise environments
- Support secure CI/CD practices and partner with internal teams
- Help discover, assess, and remediate security risks across undocumented or unknown systems
Tech & Tools
- PHP 7.x & 8.x, potential older versions in production
- Laravel 9 and earlier, plus custom PHP apps
- Security tooling: Snyk, GitGuardian, Tenable (primary focus on Snyk + GitGuardian)
- Exposure to Python would be beneficial but not required
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience tackling vulnerable and legacy environments
- Strong secure coding understanding & OWASP best practices
- Ability to troubleshoot undocumented code and runtime configurations
- Comfortable working autonomously in a remediation-focused role
- Solid communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
