Cyber Security Officer | QLD Government | 12-Month Contract | Start ASAP

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cyber Security Officer to join a Queensland Government organisation on an initial 12-month contract.

You will play a key role in protecting critical systems, identifying threats, and supporting secure information services.

In this hands-on role, you will:

• Provide technical support and administration for vulnerability management solutions.
• Assess information systems for compliance with security frameworks, legislation, policies, and standards, recommending improvements where necessary.
• Investigate and respond to potential security breaches and vulnerabilities, advising on remediation and control enhancements.
• Apply your expertise across virtualisation platforms, identity management, enterprise operating systems, SIEM, SOAR, IPS, application firewalls, server and endpoint protection, email security, threat hunting, and secure software testing techniques.
• Produce clear technical reports for management and stakeholders.
• Advise ICT operational teams, regional teams, and departmental staff on information security matters.
• Stay up to date with cyber security practices, technologies, and techniques, proactively improving processes and service delivery.

To considered for this role ideally you will have:

• Proven experience as a Cyber Security Officer/Administrator supporting the delivery of information security services.
• Hands-on experience with security frameworks such as ISO 27001 and ACSC Essential Eight.
• Experience in virtualisation, identity management, enterprise operating systems, SIEM/SOAR, IPS, firewalls, server and endpoint protection, and email security.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Public sector or large government department experience is highly desirable.

This role will be offered as an initial 12 month contract + view to extend.
