Join us to build the engineering core that powers our security automation for Operational Technology environments! We are a global leader in material handling solutions, and we serve a broad range of customers across multiple industries often with demanding environments, such as shipyards, automotive and energy industries. The goal of Konecranes global Cybersecurity team is that our customers choose us as the cybersecure option for safe and secure material handling solutions – and at the same time we set the benchmark in ensuring that Konecranes itself is resilient and protected against the cybersecurity threats.

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to take ownership of tools and automation development supporting our Operational Technology (OT) Security initiatives.

This role blends deep technical expertise in network engineering, DevOps, and scripting with a strong understanding of OT security principles.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks, integrations, and tools that enhance the visibility, efficiency, and resilience of our OT environments. You will drive proofs of concepts (POCs), new solution development, and technical specifications for automating processes across a range of systems used in the interfaces between Konecranes operational sites, cybersecurity and IT. This position is ideal for a technically hands-on engineer with a passion for automation, security and data quality who is driven to secure industrial environments with real-world, physical impact.

This role reports to global Head of OT Security and the location is flexible, within Europe.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Own & lead the technical development epics from OT Security team’s roadmap for security tools, integrations, and automation solutions which fulfil OT asset owners, process owners and security specialist’s requirements
  • Design and implement scripts and services to automate repetitive security and operational tasks related to for example maintaining OT asset inventory, discovery, micro-segments, risk profiling for vulnerability management and policy enforcements.
  • Own the tools deployment and maintenance including documentation, code repositories, and secure CI/CD pipelines for OT security automation services.
  • Conduct POCs and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the problems at hand together with different domain architects
  • Collaborate with IT/OT security specialists and IT infrastructure teams to enhance automation across diverse environments.
  • Coach and provide demos/trainings to other more junior or non-technical team members
  • Ensure all developed solutions adhere to best practices in security, scalability, and reliability.

Qualifications

What you should bring?

  • Strong understanding of basic OT security principles and environments, and desire to learn more detailed requirements from our specialists and asset operators
  • Strong and proven development experience with scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Strong background in networking and connectivity fundamentals (IPAM, LAN/WAN, segmentation) and firewall management (Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • Strong experience with DevOps / Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools: Ansible, Terraform, Github Actions CI/CD
  • Experience implementing API integrations, RESTful services, and data interchange (JSON, YAML).
  • Experience implementing SDLC tools to the development pipelines and performing vulnerability management.
  • Experience in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) along with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
  • Experience with application/infra monitoring and logging platforms.
  • Experience developing automation for incident response or threat detection workflows for OT environments is a plus (e.g. XSOAR experience).
