This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Back-end Engineer - PHP, Payments Team in EMEA.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of a high-performance Payments system supporting global e-commerce operations. You will work on scaling, optimizing, and modularizing payment services, including integrating new payment methods and improving reliability across multiple platforms. The position involves designing and implementing robust backend workflows, applying best practices in Domain-Driven Design and Event Sourcing. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless and accurate payment experience for merchants and customers. This role provides a dynamic environment where innovation, quality, and technical mentorship are highly valued.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for payments, ensuring scalability and robustness
  • Extract and transform existing payment modules into independent services using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event Sourcing
  • Implement workflows and orchestration logic for high-load, distributed payment systems using Temporal.io
  • Integrate new payment options and support multicurrency and subscription management features
  • Collaborate with product teams to define features, resolve bugs, and improve code quality
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and contribute to knowledge sharing sessions
  • Maintain high standards in testing, CI/CD, and software development best practices


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with PHP development
  • Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS principles
  • Experience building and maintaining distributed systems
  • Quality-focused mindset: testing (TDD preferred), SOLID principles, pair programming, and Agile methodologies
  • Ability to mentor team members and provide constructive code feedback
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written). Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Event Sourcing
  • Experience refactoring monolithic applications into microservices
