R&D Synthesis Laboratory Specialist
About Us
Porton PharmaTech is part of Porton Pharma Solutions, a global CDMO dedicated to providing process development and manufacturing solutions for APIs and intermediates. We are expanding our R&D team in Mengeš and looking for a motivated R&D Synthesis Laboratory Specialist to join our growing organization.
Your Role
As a Synthesis Laboratory Specialist, you will perform hands-on organic chemistry experiments under the guidance of senior scientists to develop scalable synthetic routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). You will contribute to the design, execution, and documentation of laboratory experiments, and support technology transfer to the kilo-laboratory scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute organic synthesis experiments using process chemistry techniques (jacketed reactors, automated reactors such as EasyMax®, HPLC, GC, TLC, etc.)
- Record and interpret experimental data accurately and prepare technical reports
- Support process scale-up to kilo-laboratory level
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, safe, and compliant lab environment
- Coordinate laboratory activities and manage material stocks
- Assist in onboarding new colleagues and contribute to improvements of lab procedures and documentation
- Work in compliance with all HSE and PPE regulations
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry (or equivalent education in chemical sciences)
- Good knowledge of organic and analytical chemistry
- Strong manual laboratory skills and attention to detail
- Curious, proactive, and passionate about laboratory experimentation
- Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills
- Working proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Previous experience in a CDMO, chemical, or pharmaceutical company is an advantage
