This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Software Developer (Frontend Web) in Canada.

This role is focused on delivering cutting-edge web and XR (Extended Reality) experiences for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. You will collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to build high-performance, visually stunning, and responsive frontend applications that integrate seamlessly with backend services. Your work will directly enhance spatial understanding for users in immersive environments, driving innovation in XR technology. You will lead complex projects, define technical architecture, and mentor other engineers, while staying at the forefront of emerging web and immersive technologies. This position blends technical leadership with hands-on development in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain frontend applications using JavaScript, React, and TypeScript, alongside backend services (Golang, AWS)
  • Build and optimize visually rich, high-performance components for XR and 2D environments
  • Lead large-scale, cross-team projects, defining scope, planning execution, and delivering on milestones
  • Collaborate with architects, UX designers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into product features
  • Shape system design and architecture to improve scalability, performance, and user experience across web and immersive platforms
  • Lead technical discussions, align outcomes with business objectives, and document solutions for clarity and adoption
  • Stay updated on emerging web and XR trends to anticipate and address future development needs


Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of hands-on software design and development experience with emphasis on frontend web development
  • Deep experience developing complex, performance-sensitive web applications in JavaScript (ES6+), React, and TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of browser performance profiling, rendering bottlenecks, and JavaScript engine limitations
  • Experience with real-time communication technologies such as WebSockets, Microsoft Fluid, and supporting data formats (JSON, Protobuf)
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, distributed systems, and browser rendering pipelines
  • Experience with Electron or Tauri, AWS services (e.g., S3), Git/GitHub, agile development, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Travis)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work in fast-paced, startup-like environments within large organizations


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D and immersive web technologies (ThreeJS, WebXR)
  • Full stack experience and designing resilient, scalable cloud-native architectures
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker), databases (SQL and NoSQL), game engines (Unreal Engine), and AR/VR/MR technologies
  • Expertise in observability tools (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and driving technical strategy at team or organizational level
