JOB SUMMARY:

One of our Healthcare and Hospital clients is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to support the organization’s core network infrastructure, including routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless environments. This is a hybrid position based in Columbia, MD, requiring two days per week onsite and occasional travel to two local data centers. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong Cisco networking experience, capable of working independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Role: Network Engineer

Location: Hybrid – Columbia, MD (2 days/week onsite)

Contract: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Key Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and optimize core network infrastructure (switching, routing, and wireless).
• Manage Cisco network devices, including routers, switches, and Nexus platforms.
• Configure and monitor Meraki firewalls and wireless access points.
• Support secure connectivity through Zscaler and related technologies.
• Participate in network upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with IT leadership to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals.
• Ensure reliability and scalability across corporate and data center environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong foundation in networking fundamentals – switching, routing, and core infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies (routers, switches, Nexus).
• Experience with Meraki firewalls, wireless, and Zscaler.
• Exposure to F5 load balancing is a plus.
• Certifications (CCNA, CCNP) and degrees are helpful but not required.
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced setting.
