About the role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cyber Security Analyst to join our growing security team. You will assist in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats while learning from experienced professionals.

You will be joining a growing Crick Cyber Security Team. The Cyber Security team exists to ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of Crick data and systems. They will work with other ITO teams and stakeholders from a variety of levels across the Crick, including project sponsors, operational teams, science, and external partners. You will need to forge close working relationships across all of these.


You will be involved in reviewing and monitoring cybersecurity tools, responding to any alerts or potential incidents, whilst learning from experienced professionals.


This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in cybersecurity. You don’t need a background in cybersecurity, just a genuine enthusiasm for the subject and a drive to learn fast.


What you will be doing:


Some of your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operational responsibility for the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of Crick Systems and Data.
  • Monitor security alerts and assist in triaging incidents using security tools and systems (e.g., SIEM, antivirus, firewalls).
  • Help identify and report potential vulnerabilities and threats in systems and networks.
  • Assist with incident response tasks, such as documenting events and escalating issues to senior team members.
  • Support daily operations including log analysis, endpoint protection, and access control reviews.


About you


You will have:

(Minimum criteria*)

  • Basic understanding of end user device architecture experience throughout the lifecycle, including design, implementation, transition to service, maintenance and retirement.
  • Knowledge of automating system administration tasks through use of locally-developed scripts and/or integration with other administration tools.
  • Previous experience of effectively maintaining and developing IT documentation. *
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, operating systems and common security tools.*
  • Familiarity with key cybersecurity principles, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability *
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.*
