Role Overview

We are seeking a mid-level backend engineer with strong hands-on experience in modern .NET development to join our growing engineering team.

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining core backend services across our proprietary insurance platform. You’ll work closely with our product and operations teams to build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems that power the AuditCover ecosystem.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of projects from design through deployment and thrives in a small, fast-moving, product-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend APIs and services using C# and .NET 8.0+.
• Build and optimise Entity Framework (EF) data models and SQL Server database structures.
• Develop and maintain Razor front-end components and integrate them with backend services.
• Work with JavaScript and jQuery for interactive UI enhancements and integrations.
• Build and maintain public and private REST APIs.
• Design and document technical solutions ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Manage deployments using CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure using AWS services (e.g. S3, EC2, RDS, SES).
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with product manager designer and other engineers to deliver features end-to-end.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture, coding practices, and development workflows.

Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience as a backend software engineer.
• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET 8.0+, and Entity Framework.
• Solid experience with SQL Server (design, performance tuning, queries).
• Front-end integration experience with Razor, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Proven experience building and consuming RESTful APIs (public and private).
• Working knowledge of AWS environments and services.
• Proven ability to design and implement features independently from concept to deployment.
• Strong understanding of software design and security principles (OWASP), testing, and version control (GitHub).

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Prior experience in startup or high-growth environments, or demonstrated ability to adapt from a corporate background to a fast-paced, dynamic context.
• Experience in insurtech, fintech, or other regulated data environments.
