Our Mission:

At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.

Our Vision:

We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.

The Role:

We’re hiring our first Product Designer to own the full Cell Experience at Sunrise Robotics, to redefine how humans collaborate with robotic systems.

This role covers all user-facing touchpoints of the robotic cell — from software interfaces (cell operations, menus, analytics, settings) to physical interfaces (e-stop, buzzer, and light ring).

You’ll have a unique opportunity to shape how people experience and interact with intelligent automation — ensuring every sound, light, screen, and gesture feels coherent, natural, and reliable.

You’ll work closely with our mechanical, robotics, software, and AI engineering teams to design experiences that make complex systems feel intuitive, powerful, and build trust across all of Sunrise’s users.

As our first dedicated Product Designer, you will shape the foundational design standards and elevate the design culture at Sunrise Robotics.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the end-to-end Cell Experience — build on the principles, interactions, and design system for both digital and physical interfaces of our robotic cells.
  • Design for real-world use: Develop user journeys that handle not only happy paths, but also edge cases, alerts, and recovery states in industrial environments.
  • Collaborate deeply with engineering to translate design intent into production-quality software and hardware behavior.
  • Prototype ideas quickly using both digital tools and hands-on hardware (e.g., displays, sensors, light systems).
  • Validate concepts with users to asses value, usability feasibility and refine concepts.
  • Maintain a cohesive experience language across multiple interaction surfaces and environments.
  • Define the visual and interaction language for Sunrise’s entire robotics ecosystem — ensuring a unified design language that extends beyond a single interface or product generation.
  • Contribute to Sunrise’s design culture — thoughtful, rigorous, detail-obsessed, and grounded in empathy for real users.

Who you are:

You are a senior designer with deep passion, and experience in human–machine interaction for complex, physical products — from consumer electronics, robotics, automotive, and high-integrity systems.

You combine strategic design leadership with hands-on craft, pairing intellectual curiosity and systems thinking with the discipline to execute beautifully at every level.

You bring:

  • A proven record of delivering integrated hardware–software design.
  • Mastery of UX design fundamentals and excellent visual design sense.
  • Strong familiarity with modern software design tools (Figma, etc.) and 3D visualization tools that allow you to quickly iterate on complex ideas in a collaborative way.
  • Obsessive attention to detail and craft.
  • Comfort working hands-on with prototypes — ideally both digital and physical.
  • A calm, thoughtful communication style, and the ability to drive clarity across disciplines.

Bonus points:

  • Experience with industrial or safety-critical UX (e.g., machinery, automotive, medical).
  • Technical fluency in prototyping (hardware, microcontrollers, or front-end frameworks).
  • Passion for robotics and human-centered automation.
