About the Role

Ultra Group is seeking an exceptional Senior Android Automotive Engineer to join our Gothenburg team and drive the future of in-vehicle experiences. In this leadership role, you'll architect cutting-edge Android solutions for next-generation vehicles, mentor talented engineers, and work directly with leading automotive clients in one of Europe's premier automotive hubs.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership

  • Architect and deliver complex Android Automotive applications from concept to production
  • Design and implement Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) components using C++
  • Integrate and optimize QNX-based systems with Android Automotive platforms
  • Drive technical strategy and make high-impact architectural decisions

Collaboration & Growth

  • Mentor and elevate junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
  • Partner with clients and stakeholders to translate requirements into elegant technical solutions
  • Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Champion best practices and emerging technologies across the organization


What You Bring

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of Android development with proven expertise in automotive or embedded systems
  • Strong proficiency in Android SDK, Kotlin, and C++
  • Hands-on experience with Android Automotive OS and VHAL development
  • QNX expertise for automotive applications
  • Leadership experience mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Technical Must-Haves

  • Deep understanding of automotive system architecture and lifecycle
  • Experience with QNX Neutrino IPC mechanisms and resource management
  • Proficiency with Android NDK, JNI, and native integration
  • Knowledge of HIDL/AIDL interfaces for hardware abstraction
  • Understanding of automotive cybersecurity principles and regulatory compliance

  • Knowledge of ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, or other automotive standards
  • Contributions to open-source Android Automotive projects
  • Multilingual capabilities (Swedish/English/other)
