Android/Java Developer – IoT & Connected Devices

📍 Location: Sweden (2–3 days onsite Malmo per week)

🕓 Contract: 6 Months + Extensions

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Android/Java Developer to join an exciting project focused on developing and enhancing connected device solutions. You will be responsible for building integrations between a server platform and connected systems while developing Android applications with Bluetooth LE and NFC functionality.

You’ll also take part in designing and testing future communication solutions, setting up middleware for simulated integrations, and ensuring secure, efficient data exchange across systems.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications in Java/Kotlin, focusing on Bluetooth and NFC communication.
• Build integrations between backend services and connected devices.
• Collaborate on Java-based backend solutions (e.g. Spring) deployed on Raspberry Pi or IoT platforms.
• Work with REST APIs to ensure secure, efficient data transmission.
• Contribute to design, testing, and documentation of communication protocols and device behavior.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in backend development with Java (Spring or similar).
• Strong experience in Android development using Java or Kotlin.
• Good understanding of Bluetooth LE, NFC, and client/server integrations.
• Familiarity with IoT systems, embedded integrations, or Raspberry Pi environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Independent and proactive with the ability to take ownership in small, agile teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with hardware-near programming or IoT simulation environments.
• Understanding of data security in connected systems.
