Our Vaughan client is need of an Intermediate/Senior Network Administrator for a permanent position. The successful candidate will deliver secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity across both cloud on on-prem environments.If you have deep expertise in advanced networking technologies, security frameworks and cloud platforms then this role is for you.
Please not that this is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in office in Vaughan.
Strategy & Planning
Working in collaboration with executive leadership, you will assess both immediate and long-term network capacity requirements. This includes documenting all network configurations, topology, and operational processes. To ensure network integrity, you will develop and uphold policies, procedures, and training programs for administration, usage, and disaster recovery. Ultimately, you will maintain a continuous focus on network security to proactively minimize vulnerabilities and mitigate organizational risk.
Core Responsibilities
WAN Infrastructure Administration
- Design and implement enhancements for the company's Wide Area Network (WAN), including all associated servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, firewalls, and telephony solutions.
- Stay current on network industry developments by researching new products, services, protocols, and standards.
- Manage the procurement, licensing, and upgrades for all new and existing network hardware and software.
- Negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure essential network products and services, working closely with the Manager of Global IT.
Network Architecture & Management
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise networks using Cisco/Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco/Juniper switching, and Azure networking components.
- Implement and optimize routing protocols, such as BGP and OSPF, across hybrid cloud environments.
- Support and maintain the Zscaler network architecture, ensuring optimal configuration and integration of Zscaler services within the enterprise environment.
- Manage Azure VNets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure Firewall policies to ensure secure cloud connectivity.
- Ensure the high availability and performance of cloud-based network services.
- Adhere to established service desk, incident management, and change management protocols, leveraging platforms such as ServiceNow for efficient workflow execution.
Security & Monitoring
- Administer and monitor network security systems and policies.
- Deploy and manage Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, i.e. Microsoft Sentinel and Rapid7.
- Proactively Monitor and Analyze Zscaler traffic logs and policy performance to ensure strict adherence to organizational security standards, while guaranteeing a high-quality and seamless end-user experience.
- Collaborate with the Systems Administration team to identify and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities.
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and patch management initiatives to ensure network security and system currency.
- Monitor, analyze, and test network performance, delivering actionable insights through detailed statistics and reports.
Voice & Communication Systems
- Provide support and maintenance for VoIP systems such as MS Teams Phone, ensuring seamless organizational communication.
Work Experience Required:
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise network administration, with proven expertise in Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco, and Azure networking technologies.
- Strong understanding of routing protocols including BGP and OSPF, as well as Azure NSG and Firewall configurations.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing Zscaler environments, including hands-on experience with deployment, advanced policy tuning, and complex troubleshooting.
- Solid grasp of network architecture, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, WWAN, and VPN design and implementation.
- Demonstrated expertise in network capacity planning, security principles, and industry-standard network management practices.
- Proficient in network switching, routing, firewalls and communication protocols, including VPN.
- Strong technical knowledge of network and server operating systems.
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations, including GDPR.
- Hands-on experience with VoIP systems such as MS Teams Phone and SIEM platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud-based security platforms is considered an asset.
- Experienced in developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for network configurations, operational procedures, and incident reports.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- ITIL v4 Foundation training or certification.
- Certifications in network technologies such as Azure, Palo Alto, Cisco, and Juniper are considered a strong asset.
- Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
