Cyber Security Analyst – Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Cyber Security Analyst, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with strong information security and systems analysis backgrounds who are passionate about protecting advanced energy systems and digital infrastructure.
The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enhancing Hadron Energy’s cybersecurity framework to safeguard its engineering data, control systems, and enterprise networks. This individual will collaborate with IT, operations, and engineering teams to identify vulnerabilities, assess risk, and ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity and regulatory standards.
You will play a key role in securing Hadron’s systems during the design, development, and manufacturing of its micro modular reactors—helping to protect critical intellectual property, digital control systems, and sensitive project data in a rapidly evolving threat environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards aligned with NIST, ISO 27001, and NRC cybersecurity guidelines
- Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing across IT and OT (operational technology) systems
- Monitor and analyze network traffic, logs, and alerts to detect and respond to potential threats
- Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to secure instrumentation & controls (I&C) systems and reactor digital assets
- Support the design and implementation of access control, encryption, and endpoint protection strategies
- Maintain and manage incident response plans, ensuring quick and effective remediation of security incidents
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on compliance, audits, and cybersecurity reviews
- Assist with data governance and digital forensics, ensuring secure handling of sensitive information
- Support the integration of cybersecurity requirements into reactor design, digital twin environments, and vendor systems
- Stay current on emerging cyber threats, security technologies, and industry best practices relevant to energy and critical infrastructure sectors
Qualifications & Skillsets
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 3–7 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or systems administration, preferably in energy, defense, or critical infrastructure industries
- Proficiency with SIEM tools, endpoint detection systems, firewalls, and vulnerability management platforms
- Strong understanding of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, and DOE/NRC cybersecurity requirements
- Experience with network protocols, threat analysis, and incident response workflows
- Familiarity with securing industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA, or embedded systems
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GSEC are highly desirable
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
- High attention to detail, with a proactive and analytical approach to cybersecurity defense
- Passion for protecting emerging clean energy technologies and contributing to national energy resilience
