As a wholly owned subsidiary of Steadfast Group Pty Ltd, we act on behalf of a number of insurance companies in Australia and internationally. Our aim is to provide innovative solutions for property, liability and engineering risks to protect businesses against financial loss.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our team.
The Agencies Platform Migration Program is a transformative program of core system migrations across multiple underwriting agency businesses within Steadfast. The Business Analyst will work within the Projects team and work stream between SUA, Steadfast Group, Steadfast Technologies and platform vendor.
The focus of this role is to act as an intermediary between end users and IT to ensure that business/user requirements are accurately captured, documented, translated and provided to vendor/tech teams for effective delivery of agreed IT solutions.
You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders and subject matter experts in a way that meets business objectives and improves brand and reputation in the marketplace. This role will play an important part to help deliver the organisation’s strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and document business requirements by engaging with stakeholders across underwriting, claims, and operations to support system enhancements and process improvements.
- Analyse and improve insurance processes, identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions that align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate in Agile environments, using tools like Jira to manage sprints, write user stories, define acceptance criteria, and track progress.
- Support system implementations and transformations, including large-scale change initiatives, with the ability to lead meetings, manage stakeholder expectations, and understand the broader business impact.
- Leverage technical skills, including basic coding or scripting knowledge, to support data analysis, system configuration, or automation tasks.
- Develop reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making, ensuring accuracy and consistency across multiple systems and CRMs.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, acting as a bridge between business and technical stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally with exposure to insurance (underwriting or operations experience highly regarded).
- Demonstrated involvement in the successful delivery of small to medium-sized IT or business projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions and gather requirements effectively.
- Familiarity with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies, including experience using tools like Jira to manage user stories and track progress.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and ability to contribute to documentation, testing, and implementation phases.
- Exposure to process mapping, workflow analysis, and writing clear business requirements or user stories.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, and contributing to broader transformation initiatives.
