About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Database Reliability Engineer (DRE) to join our Hosting Services team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring database performance, scalability, and availability — while driving automation and modernization initiatives in a hybrid cloud environment.

What You’ll Do

• Own the availability, latency, performance, and scalability of database products across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve system resiliency and operational efficiency.
• Automate repetitive (TOIL) tasks, enhance monitoring, and reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR).
• Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and incident response for Oracle and PostgreSQL platforms.
• Engineer operational improvements such as predictive monitoring, self-healing, and auto-scaling solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to ensure seamless database delivery and operation.
• Drive continuous improvement through incident reviews, root cause analysis, and proactive reliability measures.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, manage infrastructure as code (IaC), and support hybrid cloud deployments.
• Participate in on-call rotations, operational support, and agile ceremonies.
• Share expertise, mentor peers, and contribute to our growing engineering culture.

Required Skills & Experience

• 12+ years of total experience, including 5+ years in database reliability, operations, or SRE roles.
• Deep expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, HA, DR, and replication.
• Experience managing databases across hybrid or public cloud (Azure preferred) environments.
• Strong background in:
• Database provisioning and capacity management
• Backup, disaster recovery, and high availability
• Observability, alerting, and configuration management tools
• CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git, GitLab preferred)
• Automation and scripting: Python, Golang, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of Azure Automation, Azure Functions, or equivalent cloud-native tools.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Self-driven and proactive mindset with strong ownership of deliverables.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with NoSQL databases or other cloud database services.
• Previous experience in a financial services or highly regulated environment.
