As a Senior Backend Developer (m/f/d), you will join our experienced engineering team that powers the entire digital ecosystem behind waterdrop®. You will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable integrations and services that connect our global value chain – from sales and communication channels to external warehouses and logistics partners.

Your Responsibilities At Waterdrop®
As a Senior Backend Developer (m/f/d), you will join our experienced engineering team that powers the entire digital ecosystem behind waterdrop®. You will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable integrations and services that connect our global value chain – from sales and communication channels to external warehouses and logistics partners.
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and integrations using PHP (Laravel), PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and functional consultants to translate business needs into reliable, value-adding technical solutions.
- Contribute to architecture and system design, ensuring scalability, security, and robustness across our microservice landscape.
- Take ownership of the full development lifecycle – from scoping and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Write clean, maintainable code and uphold high standards of quality through code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance and reliability to ensure backend systems operate smoothly at scale, processing millions of orders and events each year.
- Ensure security and compliance by maintaining up-to-date dependencies, mitigating vulnerabilities, and following cloud best practices.
- Document and share knowledge to strengthen the collective expertise of the engineering team.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development with PHP (Laravel or similar frameworks).
- A solid understanding of microservice architectures, cloud platforms (GCP preferred), and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
- Proven experience in building scalable, secure, and high-availability systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a domain-driven mindset, eager to understand and solve real business challenges.
