How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
We're looking for a talented Software Development Trainee to enhance our team of mobile network R&D professionals in Espoo. Our focus is on developing and maintaining advanced software for Nokia's 5G/6G base station control plane.
5G Control Plane manages the entire lifecycle of user equipment (UE) connections to the core radio network. Its responsibilities span call setup, intricate mobility handling (including seamless handovers within 5G and between 5G and LTE networks), and efficient call release via precise signaling. Additionally, it intelligently configures 5G/6G base station lower layers based on O&M triggers.
In this role, you will actively engage in software development and testing of new features and functionalities within the 5G/6G control plane. Your contributions will be crucial for end-to-end feature development, directly delivering enhanced capabilities to Nokia Mobile Networks' end users and operators.
Key Skills And Experience
- Ongoing university/poly-technical degree education in Telecommunications, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar disciplines
- Strong interest towards the Telecommunication area, radio networks, and 5G/6G technologies
- Object oriented programming skills (C/C++/Rust)
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
- Language skills in English (written and spoken fluently)
- Foundational AI/ML Knowledge, e.g., data science methods, GenAI, Agentic-based AI
- Python programming skills
- Willingness for continuous learning and participation in all areas of the software development
- Readiness to seek and understand the end-to-end product functionality and customer view
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills, including good communication and presentation skills
