The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Global Directorate (GLO) - Enlargement & Neighbourhood Department (ELAN) - Ukraine Investment Team Division (UKIT) - Private Sector and Blending Unit (PSB) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)
(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship
Support to Ukraine's resilience, reconstruction, and EU accession is a priority for EIB Group. EIB Global set up a dedicated one-stop shop for Ukraine front office activities, the Ukraine Investment Team (UKIT). UKIT combines public sector lending (with a dedicated unit), private sector lending, blending, and EIB Group coordination (with another unit), as well as the EIB's Kyiv office. You will be hired into the Private Sector and Blending Unit (PSB). The private sector plays a crucial role in providing the investments that are needed to the reconstruction of Ukraine and its integration into the Single Market. You will gain first hand insights and practical experience in how a major International Financial Institution supports Ukrainian and international investors, using blended finance.
Responsibilities
You will contribute to the activities of unit, especially regarding management information systems, due diligence and approval processes for lending and guarantee operations, and the origination of blending mandates. This will include financial due diligence and reporting, as well as qualitative due diligence and the preparation of application documents.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or University degree preferably in international relations, business, finance, economics, social sciences or similar.
- Knowledge of dealing with quantitative information – experience with management information systems, financial analysis, data analysis, etc. would be advantageous.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Ukrainian would be an advantage.
