The Product Manager – Current Accounts will own tbi’s current account proposition in Romania, driving localization, regulatory compliance, and cross-country alignment. Working closely with Product Owners and cross-functional teams, the role leads changes from discovery to delivery, ensuring compliant integrations with authorities and payment schemes, rigorous documentation, and effective collaboration with stakeholders.


What You’ll do:


Key Responsibilities:

Product vision & roadmap

  • Define and own the Romania current accounts strategy, roadmap, and backlog in line with the bank’s strategies.
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and business needs into clear product requirements and measurable outcomes.

Regulatory ownership & compliance by design

  • Ensure the product complies with applicable EU and national frameworks (e.g., PSD2/PSD3 evolution, Payment Accounts Directive, AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions, consumer protection, GDPR etc.).
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Risk, to interpret new/updated regulations, run gap assessments, and embed requirements in product specs, customer guides, and T&Cs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date regulatory risk register and drive remediation and approvals.

Integrations with authorities & payment schemes

  • Lead product requirements for integrations with national authorities and payment/clearing infrastructures (e.g., instant payments schemes), civil identity/e-ID/e-signature frameworks, and reporting obligations.
  • Partner up with Payments team to define and validate data models and controls needed for regulatory reporting and operational monitoring.

Documentation & governance

  • Own end-to-end product documentation: T&Cs, tariffs/fee schedules, customer disclosures etc..
  • Prepare materials for internal and external approvals/committees and support audits, risk reviews, and compliance assessments.

Delivery & cross-functional collaboration

  • Partner with Product Owners for Lending, Daily Banking, and Cards to sequence dependencies (e.g., onboarding, KYC, payments, cards, overdrafts).
  • Contribute to discovery, design, UAT, rollout, and post-launch monitoring together with Engineering, Operations, and Customer Care, owning the current-account perspective and regulatory fit/
  • Coordinate cross-country product harmonization and localization decisions in collaboration with country stakeholders, document agreed deviations and rationale.

Customer experience, performance & risk

  • Monitor the KPIs for current accounts: active accounts, payments adoption (e.g., instant), churn, cost-to-serve, incidents, NPS etc.
  • Use data to identify friction points, prioritize fixes, and optimize pricing, fees, and features.



What you’ll need to succeed:

  • +3 years in product management or business analysis within retail banking/payments; direct responsibility for current accounts or daily banking is a strong plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Risk, and Technology on regulatory implementations.
  • EU and RO regulatory landscape for current accounts and payments: PSD2/PSD3 (and open banking trends), Payment Accounts Directive (fees/switching), AML/KYC and sanctions, consumer protection, GDPR/data privacy.
  • Strong analytical skills; confident with reports to validate hypotheses and monitor KPIs.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication
  • Ability to manage complex cross-country initiatives, prioritize and deliver to clear outcomes.
  • Experience launching current account onboarding in mobile banking (remote KYC, eID/e-signature journeys) is an advantage
  • Exposure to fee transparency, pricing governance, and tariff book management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, teamwork, stress-resistance, organizational skills, and initiative.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
