The Data & AI Specialist supports the effective operation of the Student Information System (SIS) and related data platforms by assisting with system administration, data management, and analytics. The role helps maintain data integrity, contributes to secure operations, and develops reports and dashboards that provide useful insights. By supporting data analysis and process improvements, the Specialist enables the Registrar’s Office to carry out academic and operational decision-making.
Operational Responsibilities:
•Support the management and daily operations of the Student Information System (SIS), including configurations, batch jobs, data updates, integrations, scheduling, and security administration. •Assist with maintaining the Ellucian Banner student module, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in data processes.
•Use data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Cognos, Power BI) to build and maintain dashboards and reports that support administrative, academic, and operational decision-making.
•Contribute to applying data analysis techniques to improve forecasting, reporting, and process automation within SIS-related functions.
•Stay informed on vendor updates and system enhancements, helping evaluate new tools and features that can improve SIS and analytics functions.
•Collaborate with Registrar staff, IT, and academic/administrative partners to understand business requirements and help implement system and data solutions.
•Support process analysis and documentation, helping identify opportunities for automation and system improvements.
•Provide technical and functional assistance to end-users, including troubleshooting, training, documentation, and communications to ensure smooth system usage.
•Participate in requirements gathering, testing, and validation of system enhancements and analytics initiatives.
•Document issues, requirements, and resolutions to ensure accuracy and transparency in SIS and related projects.
•Help maintain data integrity, consistency, and security across systems in compliance with governance and institutional standards.
•Perform other duties as required to support SIS operations and data analytics functions.
• Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
• Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment and practice to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
