Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mid-Level Laravel Developer, located in Washington, Sunderland. The Laravel Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining web-based applications using Laravel and PHP. Day-to-day activities include programming, implementing software solutions, improving existing systems and collaborating with team members to enhance project outcomes. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality execution of technical solutions.
1. Development
Design, develop and maintain web applications using Laravel and PHP.
Migrate legacy systems to modern Laravel architecture.
Build multi-tenant SaaS applications with proper isolation and scalability.
Integrate third-party APIs and services.
Develop responsive frontend components using JavaScript (Vue.js or React).
Optimise database queries and implement caching strategies (e.g., Redis).
2. Support
Provide support for internal platforms and tools.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the tech stack.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth deployment and maintenance.
3. Performance Improvement
Review existing systems and identify opportunities for optimization.
Implement best practices for performance, security, and maintainability.
Contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows.
4. Customer Management
Work with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
Attend project meetings and provide technical input.
Ensure customer expectations are managed and met.
5. People
Collaborate effectively with other developers and departments.
Share knowledge and support junior team members.
Maintain constructive communication across the business.
6. Other Duties
Perform other related duties as required in support of the department and business goals.

Knowledge and experience
- Minimum three years of experience in software development (PHP / Java).
- At least two years of hands-on Laravel experience.
- Experience with REST API design and integration.
- Familiarity with database design and performance optimisation.
- Experience with frontend frameworks (Vue.js / React).
- Experience with Redis, Git and CI/CD workflows.

07:55 – 16:35 (Mon–Thu)
07:55 – 13:35 (Fri)
Hybrid working (2 days in-office per week after training)
