About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team at Disney Digital Entertainment. This role is pivotal in shaping the interactive digital front door for The Walt Disney Company, creating engaging and innovative user interfaces and experiences for a new generation of Disney fans. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in game development, a passion for Disney and its iconic properties such as Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, and a proven track record of leading design teams through successful product launches. This is a remote position with occasional travel, offering the opportunity to collaborate with top industry talent and contribute to groundbreaking projects that will define the future of Disney’s digital entertainment offerings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of game development experience, including at least one shipped game in a Lead or Managerial role
• Proficiency in Unreal Engine and/or UEFN, with experience in UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics), Blueprints, and Verse scripting
• Demonstrated leadership and hands-on development experience across multiple shipped products
• Experience developing content for various platforms including console, PC, and mobile
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
• Deep appreciation and understanding of Disney’s IP, characters, lore, and aesthetics
• Proficiency in creating UI mockups and wireframes using tools such as Figma or similar
• Knowledge of best practices for creating engaging, smooth user experiences in gaming environments
• Effective communication skills to articulate design concepts and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project leads and developers to design and implement UI elements and game experiences that are engaging and fun
• Lead the UI development team, managing workflows, providing guidance, and ensuring high-quality deliverables
• Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize UI concepts and iterate based on feedback
• Develop UI content using Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting in Verse within development and live service environments
• Work closely with art direction to develop and maintain consistent UI style guidelines aligned with Disney’s brand and aesthetic standards
• Design, build, and refine UI and UX systems to optimize player engagement and usability
• Write detailed design documentation to communicate ideas and specifications clearly to the team
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior UI designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment
• Coordinate with other development teams to ensure seamless integration of UI with gameplay and other systems
• Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate best practices into UI/UX design processes
