The EMU works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders that include other units within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), QAS regional and central office units, as well as Emergency Management and other agencies at the local, state, and federal level.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- Demonstrated understanding, or the ability to rapidly acquire a thorough understanding of the structure, roles, functions, and services of the QAS and the Department of Health.
- Highly developed knowledge and/or experience in Emergency Management policy development in a health setting, and the ability to apply this to ensure organisational strategic and operational outcomes are delivered.
- Demonstrated high level experience in the coordination and preparation of accurate, high-quality correspondence and the proven ability to implement effective governance processes that adhere to organisational policies and system requirements.
- Proven ability to contribute to strategic planning and the provision of policy advice, including the development, evaluation, and implementation of Emergency Management related policy, standards, and service improvement initiatives.
- Highly developed leadership skills with demonstrated capabilities and experience in managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams in an environment of competing priorities and needs with limited resources.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills with the ability to prepare complex reports and submissions in accordance with departmental style guide requirements.
- The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
- Whilst not mandatory tertiary qualification/s in emergency management, business or another relevant discipline will be highly regarded.
