About the Role

We are looking for a HR Generalist, who has a strong background in payroll for a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, has a keen attention to detail with the ability to multitask when priorities change and possesses excellent administrative and computer skills, especially in excel. This role includes working collaboratively with the People & Culture team team as well as all client groups to support human resources functions and initiatives and is responsible for accurately processing payroll and administrating benefits in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate is truly passionate about payroll and benefits, cares about the details and prides themselves on completing tasks accurately and on time. This role will serve as the “go-to” person for several aspects of HR, which include Payroll, Benefits Administration, HR Special Projects, and HR Administration.



Key Responsibilities (among other things):

  • Process biweekly payroll for 150–200 team members including salary, hourly and commission types.
  • Administer health benefits and RRSP program including managing benefit portals.
  • Provide support/address questions for team members regarding compensation, leaves of absence, benefits, etc.
  • Act as main Admin for HRIS including managing team information and overseeing time and attendance.
  • Ensure all remittances such as EHT, WSIB, EI and CPP are remitted accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete Year End processing including generation of T4s and T2200s, compliance review of CRA remittances and adjustments.
  • Calculate and process special payments such as vacation, statutory holiday pay, retro pay, bonuses and separation payments.
  • Issue ROEs and act as a liaison to Service Canada for inquiries.
  • Generate payroll reports and other monthly reports for Finance/Management and input payroll data for journal entry.
  • Prepare employment letters, agreements and separation documentation as directed.
  • Maintain all team member information in a strict confidential manner.
  • Manage all Health & Safety initiatives, including JHSC coordination, maintaining the H&S board, overseeing First Aid supply ordering, and handling injury reporting and WSIB claims.
  • Conduct or coordinate workplace inspections to ensure compliance and a safe work environment.
  • Maintain professional relationships both internally and externally that are aligned with Elte’s values.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and other assigned tasks as directed by the Director of People & Culture.



Requirements

  • 2+ years’ payroll processing experience required, including year-end processing.
  • Experience with Humi (Employment Hero) HRIS is an asset.
  • Experience or exposure to health benefits/RRSP administration.
  • Knowledge of human resource processes, best practices, and employment laws/legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ethical, possesses integrity with the ability to handle sensitive data with confidentiality.
  • Curious with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Human Resources Management is an asset.
