The Network Engineer is responsible for providing innovative network solutions and technical support to customers by analysing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components. He/She will perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets the satisfaction of the Company and end users. He/She will also provide direction, information and recommendations on network configurations and installations.
The Network Engineer is expected to work on shifts (standby shift allowance will be provided); travel to customer sites as and when required (transport expense claimable capped at a maximum amount); and with mobile allowance capped at a fixed amount.
Fresh graduates or those with 1-2 years of relevant experience are also welcome to apply, starting at Junior level. Senior level needs at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare for the commission, de-commissioning, and tech refresh of network devices.
- Facilitate problem solving and collaboration, and provide a fast break-fix solution and service.
- Ensure network platform is functioning properly at the customer sites.
- Ensure network infrastructure complies with security policies.
- Maintain the availability of network operations including network related incident and change management in accordance with stipulated SLA (Service Level Agreements).
- Prepare and maintain assets to ensure availability and update of capacity reports.
- Provide preventive maintenance such as patching and firmware updates for network devices.
- Provide helpdesk (ie., Level 1 support) via phone or email requests promptly and provide solutions, follow-up on helpdesk for technical support on all Business Unit Products and Solutions.
- Support and assist in product/solution demonstrations, proof of concepts and installation for customers & resellers.
- Update process and procedural documents.
- Understand customer’s production support problems, recommends solutions to meet their needs, and ensures high level of customer's satisfaction
- Stay abreast of product roadmap as well as understanding the scenarios, features and functions within each of the products and how these are applied to address business and technical problems. This includes interacting with distributors/vendors on an on-going basis to stay current.
- Prepare for meetings and tailoring communications to address business needs of customers as part of the post sales process.
- Any other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Information Technology / Information Systems / Computer Science, Business IT or its equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in network support, implementation and management, including proficiency in troubleshooting major brands such as Cisco, Alcatel Lucent, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Aruba etc. (at least 5 years of experience for Senior level).
- Junior level for fresh graduates or those with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Good knowledge of the following, but not limited to:
- Firewall technologies (high availability, virtual firewall concept)
- IP load balancer
- Campus Network Design, Distribution and core switches, Wireless
- Network Access Control
- Router configuration (high availability)
- LAN and WAN administration
- Familiarization with Cisco technologies such as Digital Network Architecture (DNA), Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) is a plus.
- Certificate in CCNA is a must.
- CCNP and ITIL certification is preferred.
- Understanding of network implementation in Cloud environment (e.g. AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Broad awareness of industry technical architecture, emerging technologies and best practices with sufficient knowledge to determine what is and is not possible.
- Good understanding of a services business in a high-tech environment from a supplier, integrator or operator’s perspective.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with ability to provide quick resolution to problems.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills.
- Excellent presentation skills as well as verbal and written communications skills, with ability to communicate technical and business information to widely varied audiences.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and under tight schedule / pressure.
