Job Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network hardware and software to ensure smooth integration within customer environments. This includes servers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices. The role also involves documenting configurations, procedures, and network diagrams, and providing knowledge transfer to customers for ongoing support. This individual will collaborate with senior engineers to implement solutions aligned with industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve networking and system issues.
  • Handle escalated tickets and assigned technical tasks from internal teams.
  • Install, configure, monitor, test, and maintain firewalls, access points, switches, and other network infrastructure.
  • Provide support for customer server environments.
  • Support identity infrastructure such as Entra ID and Active Directory.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of network protocols including DNS, DHCP, and routing.
  • Define system requirements and design appropriate network solutions.
  • Perform on-site visits to install, repair, and troubleshoot networking equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and support cloud infrastructure (Azure VMs, Azure VPN Gateways, Entra ID, Microsoft Intune).
  • Research and evaluate new technologies for potential deployment.
  • Travel to customer sites to diagnose and resolve issues.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred certification: CompTIA Security+ or Network+
  • Strong experience with networking fundamentals and techniques.
  • Proficiency with Cisco, HP, SonicWall, Palo Alto, and Ubiquiti equipment preferred.
  • Solid understanding of IP addressing/subnetting, VLANs, port aggregation, DNS, DHCP, RDP, and LDAP.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server (2008+), Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, PowerShell, EDR solutions, and enterprise backup systems.
  • Experience with Duo is a plus.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve workstation issues involving Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office applications in both domain and workgroup environments.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Northeastern U.S. as needed.
