Join NCS Australia as a Platform Engineer focused on the Control Plane for our landmark "Telco of the Future" program. This is a high-impact, client-facing role where you will design, build, and operate the central nervous system for our entire container platform. You will be at the heart of the solution, using a modern stack centered on AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), and Golang to create a scalable, secure, and fully automated platform.
Your mission is to build the intelligent control plane that manages the platform as a service. This isn't just about maintaining infrastructure; it's about engineering the robust, self-healing, and automated logic that bridges the gap between development and operations. Your work will directly empower client product teams to move with speed and confidence, knowing the platform's core functions—from networking to security and deployment—are codified and managed.
This impact is delivered through deep technical ownership. You will be building custom Golang operators to act as the "brain" of the control plane, automating complex cloud and Kubernetes resource management. You will architect and provision secure EKS clusters, develop REST APIs to power GitOps workflows, and define the GitOps standards (Argo CD, Kustomize) that govern the entire ecosystem.
We're looking for a passionate engineer who thinks in terms of systems and loves building the automated logic that manages complex platforms.
AWS & EKS Expertise: Proven experience architecting, provisioning, and administering AWS EKS clusters, aligned with the Well-Architected Framework.
Infrastructure as Code: Experience translating cloud infrastructure best practices into code (using tools other than Terraform).
Kubernetes Control Plane: Deep hands-on K8s administration experience, with a focus on defining and enforcing platform rules (network policies, security controls, resource constraints).
Golang or Python Development: Strong software engineering skills, specifically with experience building automation or operators in Golang or Python to automate cloud and Kubernetes tasks.
API Development: Ability to build and maintain clean, modular, and testable REST APIs, especially for GitOps workflows and automation.
Platform Tooling: Experience deploying and managing core K8s components like Ingress Controllers, Gateway API, External DNS, and Cert Manager.
GitOps - Argo CD: Hands-on experience defining and managing Argo CD applications.
GitOps - Kustomize: Proficiency with Kustomize for GitOps manifests, including the ability to convert Helm charts to Kustomize.
Observability: Familiarity with implementing observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and codifying dynamic alerting.
Collaborative Problem-Solver: A passion for automation and platform engineering, combined with strong troubleshooting skills and excellent communication in an agile environment.
