Sustafe is looking for a Head of Engineering (Hands-on Technical Lead) !

Sustafe is a Helsinki University based startup from the Helsinki Incubator program, building digital solutions to make laboratory environments safer and more sustainable. We’re preparing pilots with universities and industry partners, and we need a strong developer to lead our next stage of product development.

What we’re looking for :

• Strong full-stack or app development skills - experience with modern web/cross-platform frameworks (React, Next.js, Flutter, Node.js, Supabase, Firebase, etc.)

• Ability to write production-level code and build features independently

• Experience leading small tech teams or contributors

• Basic understanding of cloud deployment, infrastructure & DevOps (CI/CD, Docker, AWS/GCP)

• Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for sustainability or digital innovation

Responsibilities :

• Develop and customize the Sustafe app for pilot customers (universities & industry labs)

• Lead roadmap, architecture, and deployment

• Actively code and deliver core product features

• Manage cloud infrastructure & basic DevOps

• Supervise team members and align tech direction with co-founders

• Support pilot testing and product iteration

Compensation :

• Equity-based role - vesting over 3 years with a 6-month cliff
