Once upon a time in 2011, the founders of Star Stable Entertainment had a vision. They wanted to create a game that could make a difference. Although half of gamers are girls and women, they were under-represented in the gaming industry, both as characters and creators. We dreamed of an epic online world where tween and teen girls could share an amazing experience. And we wanted to challenge how things were done in a male-dominated industry. Now we are looking for our Backend Developer who will be a major contributor for making improvements, finding creative ways to solve problems, and implementing new solutions. The position and responsibilities:

You will join a team with the mission of creating a scalable architecture to future-proof our game Star Stable Online. You will focus on the game backend, effectively building server-side game logic using microservices. In this role you will help your teammates decide on architecture and what direction to move.

Right now, the team is working with Go, Python with MySQL, Redis and Postgres databases all run in AWS which is maintained with terraform. You will have a lot of freedom in deciding what should be used though if something else is better suited for the task at hand. If you like to take initiative, drive ideas in collaboration with other team members, then this is a position for you!

What we are looking for and what we are using:

• Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming languages (Go and Python)
• Experience working with microservices
• Test driven mindset (Integration testing, Unit testing)
• Experience with event-driven architecture
• Experience working with databases (Postgres and MySQL)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, SQS, SNS, Firehose, S3, ECS, EC2, Fargate etc..)
• CI/CD experience (Github Actions)
• Several years of relevant professional experience (around 4-6 years)
• Experience working in teams using agile methodology
• Strong communicator with a professional and approachable style
