For an European institution in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence & Data Analytics.

Candidates need to be based in Belgium or willing to relocate to Brussels when coming from abroad. Remote work from Belgium is possible.

Candidates need to be fluent in English. A work permit is required, but not provided. This position is open for contractors.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Provide advice, support and training for Business Intelligence and Data Analytics related activities for technical and non-technical users (Data Modelling and Design, Architecture Review, Data projects, Standards and processes, Centre of Competence);
• Prepare architecture deliverables concerning Business Intelligence and Data Analytics topics (Reference Data Architecture, Data Platform, Data Governance, Data Strategy, Data Inventory, Master and Reference Data);
• Building data-driven solutions for a variety of end-users, within an advanced technology context;
• Conduct proofs of concept concerning new technologies and trends, products, or appliance of IT best practices;
• Gathering and analysis of the business requirements;
• Technical analysis and specifications of BI and DA solutions;
• Exploratory data analysis to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets for diagnosis and prediction;
• Definition and drafting of training and support procedures;
• Architecture, design, deployment, and management of Data Platforms;
• Design, modelling, development, management and review of end-to-end BI and DA products based on on-prem and cloud data platforms. Including: ETL, Data Lakes, Data Warehouse, visualisations for non-specialist (eg: reports, charts, and dashboards), export mechanism (eg: APIs), …;
• Set-up CI/CD pipelines including automatic testing and quality assurance;
• Maintenance of BI and DA products, including troubleshooting, bug fixing, performance analysis, technical migrations, …;
• Integration and reusability of COTS, SaaS, PaaS and SaaS;
• Conception and implementation of data protection measures, data security measures and disclosure control;
• Definition of test strategies, design, and testing;
• Definition of best practices and standards;
• Technology watch, technology evaluation and contribution to platform definition and strategy documents;
• End-to-end engineer on business intelligence, and this also includes experience on architecture and deployment/evaluation of new tools;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master Degree;
• +8 years of experience in a similar role;
• In depth knowledge of modern data platforms architecture, including integration of different products/technologies to deliver data-driven solutions;
• In dept knowledge of data modelling for data lakes and data warehouses (eg: Medallion Architecture, Star Schema and Kimball);
• In depth knowledge of SQL (eg: Oracle, SQL Server,…);
• In depth knowledge of orchestration (eg: Airflow) and ETL tools (eg: DBT, SSIS, …);
• In depth knowledge of visualisation tools (eg: PowerBI);
• In depth knowledge of CI/CD tools, testing and quality assurance;
• Excellent analytical thinking, by using logic and reasoning to identify patterns and gaps while analysing and exploring data;
• In depth knowledge of programming languages for data analytics (eg: python, R, …);
• Experience in setting up a Centre of Competence to provide advice, support and training for Business Intelligence and Data Analytics related activities for technical and non-technical users;
• Technical guidance including solution finding for highly complicated issues;
• Validation of technological orientations;
• Validation of business cases and/or maturity assessment studies;
• Ability to cope with fast changing technologies;
• Fluent in English;
