IT/OT Onsite Network Engineer – Contract
📍 Location: Prestwick, UK (Onsite)
⏱️ Contract: 6 Months (Extension Possible)
💷 Rate: £375 per day (Inside IR35)
📞 On-Call: Required for high-priority incident support
About the Role
Our client, a top global organization, is seeking an experienced IT/OT Onsite Network Engineer to support secure network and operational technology environments across industrial sites. You will play a critical role in deploying, managing, and securing IT/OT infrastructure, ensuring compliance, resilience, and operational continuity. This position is suited for a technically hands-on network professional with deep understanding of firewalls, VLAN segmentation, industrial protocols, and IT/OT convergence in manufacturing or production environments.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Digital Technology Leader in implementing IT/OT security and connectivity projects.
- Coordinate with maintenance, EHS, operations, and quality teams to ensure secure shop-floor connectivity.
- Conduct OT/IT asset discovery, maintain inventory and documentation, and ensure compliance with control standards.
- Configure and deploy network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, SD-WAN, and routers (Cisco preferred).
- Manage patching, malware scanning, and vulnerability remediation for OT assets.
- Implement and monitor removable media control policies and vendor compliance.
- Deploy and manage Nozomi network taps and network segmentation solutions.
- Build and maintain recovery, backup, and remote access solutions for critical OT systems.
- Manage hardware procurement, vendor coordination, and audit preparation activities.
- Provide on-call support for critical incident response.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with firewall rule configuration, VLAN micro-segmentation, and switch/router setup.
- Proficiency in network security configuration and management of network taps.
- Experience with secure industrial protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, SMB).
- Network design and implementation for LAN/WAN, VLANs, and routing protocols.
- Hands-on expertise with Cisco firewalls, SD-WAN, and switches.
- Experience deploying and managing OT business tools (remote access, file transfer, monitoring, backups).
- CCNA/CCNP or CompTIA Network+ certification required.
- OT security or cloud certifications (e.g., SANS ICS, AWS, Azure) are advantageous.
Desirable:
- 10+ years of experience across IT/OT environments.
- Exposure to industrial assets such as PLCs, HMIs, CNCs, sensors, and inspection systems.
- Experience integrating IT networks with OT systems.
- Familiarity with AWS Storage Gateway, IoT, and Historian applications.
