Senior Java Software Engineer - Contract

💻 Senior Java Software Engineer (Contract) | Hybrid – Vilnius | Up to €45/hour

We’re looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join a highly collaborative engineering team working on business-facing digital solutions for one of Europe’s leading financial technology organizations. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing cloud-native systems that enable millions of customers to access seamless digital services every day.

This is a hands-on development role in a modern, agile environment where quality, scalability, and clean code matter. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the continuous evolution of a high-impact product suite.

What you’ll do:

• Refactor and modernize existing Java codebases, improving performance and maintainability.
• Design, develop, and test cloud-native systems and RESTful APIs using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
• Participate in production releases, incident management, and system improvements.
• Coach and mentor less experienced developers to uphold engineering best practices.
• Collaborate across teams to drive continuous improvement in code quality and delivery processes.

What we’re looking for:

• 4+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST, Junit, MQ, and ElasticSearch.
• Experience with cloud-native development (AWS experience is a plus).
• Understanding of CI/CD principles (experience with Azure DevOps is an advantage).
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Excellent English communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Contract details:

• Location: Hybrid (3days/week onsite in Vilnius)
• Rate: Up to €45/hour (depending on experience)
• Duration: 6-month contract with possibility of extension
• Start: ASAP
