About the role:

CRU is hiring a Zinc Markets Analyst to lead research and client engagement from our London headquarters. Working closely with the Principal Analyst for Zinc, you will deliver high-impact analysis that informs senior decision-makers across the sector. The role spans short- and long-term market research, including supply/demand modelling, scenario development, price formation and forecasting, and direct client engagement, using CRU’s established commodity methodologies and tools.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain CRU’s view on zinc concentrate and refined supply by collecting market data, gathering intelligence, and modelling future output.
  • Build and design supply-side models, including scrap flows, incentive pricing, uncommitted projects, and resource-to-reserve conversion ratios.
  • Communicate supply-side developments to clients via monthly and quarterly publications.
  • Monitor short-term demand indicators, form demand outlooks, and share insights in regular reports.
  • Contribute to and maintain demand models for the total zinc market and individual applications.
  • Engage with clients to deliver CRU’s latest market views through clear, evidence-based narratives.
  • Gather market intelligence from zinc customers and producers to enhance CRU’s understanding and generate new insights.
  • Expand CRU’s profile through client engagement, conferences, media outreach, and site visits.
  • Contribute to written reports, presentations, webinars, and market insights across the zinc product suite.
  • Analyse zinc cost structures and cost drivers and assess their impact on price outlooks.


Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required (economics, business, or commercial disciplines preferred; technical degrees in geology, metallurgy, or engineering also relevant).
  • Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.


Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in analytical roles within commodities, manufacturing, geology, natural resources, macroeconomics, or equity research.
  • Strong enthusiasm for developing deep expertise in metals markets and willingness to learn.
  • Solid understanding of basic economic principles; knowledge of commodity markets is an advantage.
  • Proven report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to construct and defend compelling sector narratives.
  • Market-facing, commercially minded communicator.
  • High numeracy and data management proficiency; ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Fluency in English with strong reasoning and evidence-based argumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a professional network.
  • Highly collaborative, supporting a diverse international team across time zones.
